Scott and I had just had a little argument(it's all good) at lunch time today and David looked at us and said, "That's not nice. We need to use good manners talking." It was so cute, and the first time he's said something like that. I love this kid.

David came up from playing in the basement and said, "I hurt myself so I just had to say a prayer." That made my day! Glad he was listening when we taught him about prayer.

We had just finished eating dinner with Scott's parents and Grandma Sorenson asked David to take a dish to Grandpa in the kitchen. He came back and said, "No I gave it to my Father Daddy!"

Lately David has mourned his pee as he flushes it. Yeah. Today as he flushed he said very sadly, "Oh no my peepee!"

I was playing on the dock in McCall with David and Sydney, and Sydney started shaking from being cold and wet. I said, "Oh Sydney are you cold?" and David exclaims, "Sydney is shaking like a leaf!" I laughed and asked, "Where did you get that from?" David said, "From the leaf on the tree."

We were walking through the clothes section of the store today and as we passed a particular female section David exclaims, "Oh, pretty underwear!"

I was sitting at the computer doing some blogging and David was kind of hanging around me. At one point he said, " Mom, I want to talk to you." I was a little preoccupied but replied vaguely, "Um, what do you want to talk about?" He said very matter of factly, "Harry Potter!" haha, I burst out laughing. I guess my little Harry Potter obsession has rubber off on him! Can't wait til he can actually read them!

I call David Sweetheart or Sweetie all the time when I'm talking and he's picked up on it. The other day he liked something I did and he said in a very sweet voice, "Thank you Sweetie." And in Primary today he picked a flower, handed it to his teacher, and said "Here you go Sweetie." So cute!

David was playing with his xylophone while I was close by working in the kitchen. He said, "I wrote a song for you. It's a love song." He played a little more and then said, "That's for you!" I thought it was so cute and was replying very enthusiastically, but after several minutes of going through different versions of this I started to not respond quite as much as I was. David scolded me saying, "Smile, and thankyou!" meaning that's what he wanted me to do. Love him!

David was taking pictures of his siblings with the camera when he exclaimed "I'm taking two of my friends!" Me- "two of your friends?" Him- "Sydney and Parker!" while pointing to them.

We were talking about the difference between a banjo and a guitar and he says, "I want to play Julia's big bantar(guitar)." I said, "Yeah? I don't know how, I can't do it very well." And David says, "You're hands too big?"

I see David jumping from one side of the couch to the other with his mouth chomping open and shut. He says, "I'm jumping and eating those yucky stuff." He was talking about the dust particles floating around in the light of the window.

Today the kids and I made easter eggs out of construction paper, but I was also talking to them about the Savior and how Easter is about more than the candy. I said enthusiastically "Do you know what's even more special than eggs?" David replies, "More eggs!" looking at me with his eye brows raised and his head cocked to the side. I kept talking about it to them and a few minutes later I said, "He came out of the tomb!" and David says matter of factly as he looks back down at his egg, "And he get all the eggs." lol. Gotta love three year olds minds!

After I was done vaccuming today Sydney noticed and wanted a sticker that was inside the vaccum canister. I told her it was icky now. Then David says, "I get it. I can swim in there?"

Scott gave David some grapefruit because he asked for it, but after a minute of trying it David said he didn't want it anymore. I said, "Are you sure you don't want it?" David says, "No! It's too spicy in my belly!"

The last month he has been calling all of us "Honey" in a sweet concerned voice at random times. He says it just like me. And when he's leaning over Parker who's fussing a little bit he says, "It's ok Parker! It's just me. It's just me."

David started running around in a circle saying, "My baby falling out. My baby falling out," while holding his tummy. Scott and I both started laughing. So funny. Then a minute later he said he had to go number 2, and he did.

While cuddling with me and looking at my belly, he points at it and says, "Baby come out of your belly." pause "It will break." I asked him what would break and he said, "Your belly will break. Baby come out." lol!

If you read my last post than you know David got into my make up. Well this morning I was putting my make-up on and David saw me pull out my blush. He got excited and said, "I put that on my face, my forehead, my neck, and myyyyyyy side!"

As David was sitting down for breakfast he saw the nativity we set up last night. He picks up one of the wise men and asks, "what's this?" I said it was a wise man. He says, "wise man" as he puts it down. Then he picks up another wise man and asks, "This a foolish man?" lol. (In our church there is a primary song called the wise man and the foolish man)

The kids had shut themselves in their room and so I went to check on them. I found David playing with one of his cars and Sydney playing with the other. David says, "Sydney playing with that green car!" I said, "Yeah, that's so nice of you to share David!" And he says, "Yaaaayy!! I share!!!"

As I was decorating for David's party today David was very enthusiastic, and kept saying it was "so pretty." But at one point he exclaimed, "Wow, Mom! You are so very strong!" All I was doing was taping up some ribbon on the counter. haha

I was telling David that one of his nursery friends would be at his birthday party and he got all excited and said, "My birthday cake! My candle! My birthday fire!!!"

As a result of daylight savings I was telling David Mickey Mouse wasn't on for an hour and 10 minutes instead of 10 minutes. Instead of being dissapointed like I thought he'd be, David promptly said, "It's candy time!"

When we wake up each morning David asks, "Mickey Mouse on?" And every day I have been showing him the clock and where the big hand has to be for it to be on. Now instead of me saying it he answers himself saying, "See that big hand? All way up, all way down!" That's when there's an hour before it's on. He's not always right because we always get up at different times. But so cute!

David came up to me holding a glass of water, said "I get him a drink!" and proceeded to try to lift my shirt up off my belly. He thinks he can get to the baby through my belly button.

Driving home one night David is looking at the Temple on the hill and says, "Moroni's cold", in a concerned voice.

Driving through Snoqualmie pass to Seattle we see a huge, red setting sun. We point it out to David and he reaches out his hand towards it and says, "Hold it!" Meaning he wanted to hold it.

Also driving to Seattle David is eating grapes off the vine and I hear him saying, "Go back in there please!" I look back and he's trying to reattatch a grape to the vine that's been pulled off.

Is Spring Really Here?

It seems almost too good to be true that the snow is already gone. We went to the park Monday and Tuesday and it was wonderful!

The kids were especially attracted to the puddles, of course...
And had a great time in the swings...

We tried to get a picture of Parker all bundled up but it just wasn't workin, so here's one of him getting frustrated that I'm taking pictures instead of cuddling him...

Say Cheese!!

If you can't tell I'm really grasping for reasons to post here. Not much going on besides just hanging out together at home. It's supposed to be 49 degrees on Monday though! If it is I'm going to venture to the park for the first time by myself with all three kids. Whoo!!

Loving on the baby...

Parker is David and Sydney's favorite thing right now. They always want to hang over him and play with him, and I play the referee because, you know, sometimes they love him too much!! =) One thing is for sure though. Although they can drive me crazy sometimes(usually from 4:30-6pm weekdays before Scott gets home-it's killer!) I love being their Mom and love spending time with them, watching them grow, and playing the referee. They are so adorable and I love them so much!

Cooing

In the last week Parker has started cooing and playing with toys and it is SO adorable!! Sometimes he does it more than what I caught but I never seem to have my camera on hand when he does it the most. Cutie!

My New Hero

When I was a little girl I remember my Mom telling me a story about George Washington that fascinated me. Then when I was in middle school I remember reading a couple simple books on our Founding Fathers, and ever since then I have held a lot of respect for them and looked up to them. There is also this beautiful painting of George Washington praying in Valley Forge(this was not an isolated incident) that I have always LOVED and wanted in my living room when I ‘grew up’ that hopefully I will have a large print of in a prominent spot in my house one day.

I never really took the time to learn more about the Founding Fathers though until recently. After a conversation with one of my friends she recommended “The Real George Washington” to me. Her favorite Founding Father is Thomas Jefferson, but I told her that George Washington had always held a special place in my heart. I’m not sure why, maybe because of that story I heard as a little girl, but I was eager to read a book about him.

Briefly I’ll just say that this book is all about following the facts and dates of the events in his life- growing up, the revolutionary war, the constitutional convention, and his two terms of presidency, while constantly inserting quotes by him or people around him that have been taken from their personal letters and diaries. This book is not written in a biased way to try to sway the reader’s opinions in one way or the other. It’s just what was. And it does NOT leave out things like affairs with his slaves(who he didn’t like having, never selling a slave in his life so their families could be kept together, and then set free in his will), because frankly that is not something he would have ever done or even thought of doing and there is absolutely nothing documented anywhere in any letter or diary or anything in history that even hints at such a thing.

But anyways, I digress, and I’m not trying to promote this book. I really just feel compelled to share some thoughts of mine. Learning more about George Washington was an incredible experience for me. Reading what kind of man he was- that’s really all this book is about really. None of these key things in our history would have happened if it weren’t for the man that he was. I seriously respect him now as much as I respect any of the prophets of God, and can say that I believe without a shadow of a doubt that he was called in the preexistence to do what he did during his life. I get so excited just thinking about everything I read and how it all came together. Now if someone asked me “If you could meet one person(besides our Savior), who ever lived on this earth, who would it be?” I would say George Washington! I know that he was a man of God, that he was set apart and preserved for his mission on earth, and that he lived an amazing, AMAZING life that we should all have respect, and in my case, awe, for. I love that man!

The bread winner and maker

First of all I will say that those of you who voted David top and Parker bottom were corrrect!! Sorry it took so long for me to tell you! =)

This blog is supposed to be about our whole family but I don't seem to get much of Scott on here. So I wanted to do a post about him. With his rigorous school and work schedule he doesn't really get to do much for himself, so there aren't any cool adventures or anything for me to post about him. I wanted, though, to brag about my husband just a little bit because he is so amazing with how he juggles his family, work, school and church responsibilities. I don't know how he does it! He gets about 4 to 5 hours of sleep every night! Anyway, I mainly wanted to show off that Scott is not afraid to bake in the kitchen. His favorite thing to make is homemade bread and makes it all the time. Some of his other favorites are German Pancakes, Peach Cobbler, and Scones. He also usually beats me every Sunday in filling the crock pot with yummy goodness for us to eat for dinner later that night. I am so lucky to have such a cool husband who doesn't just sit on the couch watching sports or playing video games expecting me to do everything. I love you honey!

Can You Guess? Comparisons just for fun

Besides my children each having their own distinct look in their eyes, they look extremely similar as babies! Here I have a picture of each of my boys around the same age. Can you guess who is who? Keep in mind that I had the blanket, the chair and the outfits all for David, so Parker could be using them too.

If you chance to meet a frown

A few days ago David started drawing smily faces. I'd ask him where the smile was and he'd point to the line going over the top of the head. I was confused why he'd put it there but you know, he's 3 and enough said. But today I think I figured out why he draws his smily faces like that! There is a primary song that goes: "If you chance to meet a frown do not let it stay, quickly turn it upside down and smile that frown away." And usually there are little visuals the kids get to hold of a face that frowns with a crease in the forehead, but half way through the song you flip in upside down and it's a smily face. So there's a line on the top and the bottom! Anyway, I just think it is really cute how he does it!

Parker at One Month

We have now had this adorable little man for a month as of the 8th!

Here is what he is up to:

-Going to bed around 10pm limiting my free time. That's ok, it's to be expected! We'll just keep working on it.

-Cooing the last few days. SO adorable as always.

-Eating like a champ

-Sleeping well enough I'm not compaining. And he usually takes long naps during the day that help me to still have time for chores and the other kids.

-Holding his head up steady and looking around.

-Peeing on Mommy every once in a while while diaper changing. Gotta love it.

-Making funny noises when Scott tickles him. Poor guy doesn't know what to do or think. =)

We feel so blessed to have this sweet baby and are enjoying every day with him. The kids can't get enough of him either!
