Big Changes

Things I will miss about being in Rexburg:

-Partying with the Pingry’s (Dinners, movies, double dates, late night discussions, holidays, LDS General Conferences, gardening, playing at the park, tubing down the river twice, sand dunes, bon fires made out of Christmas trees.)
-Friends
-No traffic
-Being so close to everything (church, temple, grocery store, the DI, the Distribution Center)
-Clean parks with paved paths and spray park (and being within walking distance)
-Great family community (so many family oriented activities going on all around town all the time)
-Dry Autumn time

Things I will not miss:

-Way too long winters with below 0 temps
-Our tiny apartment (and the unbearable heat in it in the summer)
-The shopping (or lack thereof)
-The restaurants (or lack thereof)
-The straight flat freeway (really all the landscape immediately around Rexburg)

Back to School Party

Every year Rexburg holds a big party in the park right before school starts. This is the third one we've been to now and they've all been fun, but this one was definitely the best because my kids were that much older and able to enjoy it, and I went with my sis-in-law and her kids.

There were a bunch of booths with different activities and prizes, free stuff, free dinner, and a raffle(we didn't do the bigger kid stuff like big blown up slides, rock climbing, water sprayed out of the fire engine ladder way up high, and such). Speaking of a raffle, Scott and I have always passed up entering our kids into that because what are the chances really? There are SO many peeople there. Well this time Heidi and I went right over and entered all our kids. After doing all the party related things, eating dinner, and playing at the spray park we head over to hear them draw names. They started with the 0-7 age group and Sydney was like the 5th name they called out! I swear this girl has good luck! She always wins these things. David was quite jealous of her prize and the rest of the time he kept saying, "They going to say my name?"

We started out with the kids first movie in a theater(free!) and so I was out with the three kids from 1 until 7! It was such a fun day!

At the bubble pool with cousin Naomi.

"Don't take a picture of me."

Wiped out on Aunt Heidi.

More Fun at the Dunes!

We had so much fun at the sand dunes last monday that we took some friends and went back. This time a couple hours earlier so we could enjoy more time playing on them. One of the other couples there had a daughter between David and Sydney's age and the three of them had an absolute blast. They loved climbing the hills and running down them, digging in it, "sliding" down the steep ones, and more.
Parker was the happiest I think I've ever seen him. He was so alert and watching the older kids' every move. He was cooing and waving his arms around and kicking his legs...for a little while my friend even helped him walk and he was LOVING it. He did not want to stop. You could tell he just wanted so much to be a part of the action! When I had him sitting with his legs off the blanket he was so fascinated by the sand and kept picking up handfuls and watching it fall through his fingers.
We also had fun running and jumping off a steep one(you couldn't see where you were going to end up until you were in the air!) and that was quite exciting.
Also one of the guys who had a truck drove up onto the actual dunes. We were pretty sure he was going to get stuck, especially when he took it into dips where the only way out was up, but he was able to manuever his way around, only getting high centered when he tried to take it down the insanely steep hill we all climbed up to get onto the dunes. The guys dug and pushed and he made it out ok. Whew!
After that we had a fire and yummy brats and smores! Good times!
I feel like with all the fun we've been having this summer this blog has turned into the Sorenson Family Photo Album, but I'm loving it!

Sydney really wanted to help Parker walk. She kept getting right up in his face and in an extremely happy voice saying "Hey Baaaabee!!" over and over. Something she does all the time at home too.

With our good friends the Mackowiaks.

David was running down as fast as he could to jump on me!

Our good friends the Smiths

Parker with Hyrum whom he's just 4 days younger than.

Our good friends the Farnsworths were there too but I don't have one of them together.

I got other people jumping but this is the best one.

Sand Dunes, Parker 7 months, and Yogurt

Parker at 7 months
This is a little over a week late but oh well! I have so much on my plate right now so let's see...he's sitting up on his own great, starting to arch his back when he's bored in my lap, getting mommy atatchment issues(joy!),sticking his tongue out and chomping on it for fun, and getting better with solids. We love him so much and he was quite the popular one at the Farmer reunion in McCall!

(next two pictures courtesy of Annalise)

Yogurt
Scott learned from his German Professor/boss how to make yogurt. He was very excited to try it out so we'd never have to buy it again. The first time it didn't work but the second time was a success! It's really good with a little sugar and fresh fruit or jam. My hubby's awesome.

Sand Dunes
Last night we went with the Pingry's and some of their friends(Scott's doing tile work for one of the other family's) to the sand dunes. I seriously am mad at myself for not going there sooner! We've been here 3 1/2 yrs and now we're about to leave! We are going to go back again before we leave, this time a couple hours earlier so we can play in the sand a little longer. When we got there the sun had already set and it got dark pretty fast. My battery was also about to die so that's why I was trying to take pictures without a flash. We also had a fire and made smores. So fun! We were way out in the middle of no where where there are never any four wheelers or anything else.

McCall 2010 part 3

Ok, this is the last McCall post I'm doing!

Cliff Jumping
Notice you don't see me up there. I'm super wimpy now! Those who knew me in highschool and college might find that hard to believe, but I think it has something to do with getting married and having children.
So this is Julia, J, Dad, on the 30 ish footer, and Clarissa and Rosalee on the 20+ footer.

Go Scottie! haha, love this shot, love my hubby.

Love this shot of Julia.

Swimming
Here's some pictures from the whole week.
Sydney actually wanted to play in the water several times!

Playing on the dock with Daddy.

This was the only time David got in the water. And he had a blast. He was so happy. But before and after this momentous occasion he acted afraid of it again and preferred to play in the sand.

Clarissa and I after all of us went on our 'midnight" swim! It was more like 10:30, but the point was to go when it was pitch black.

So cute.

Parker playing in the water with Grandpa! He loved looking down at his feet while kicking and stomping in the water!

Fishing
Dad and Rosalee and Clarissa went fishing with Scott and David, and with my Dad's years of fishing in McCall experience Scott finally caught a fish! Well over three trips he actually caught like 15 or something. He was SO happy! And David had fun as well though I think he mostly just watched. I stayed home and slept.
I should clarify that Julia also went fishing the second morning and took some really great photos for us!!
